For a Seminary Scholarship Application Form please click here Scholarship applicant must be an active member of Germantown Baptist Church for at least one year prior to request for scholarship funding. Scholarship funds are to be used for tuition only and not books, housing, or any other seminary expense.
Available scholarship funds are to be offered for the traditional school year (not summer school). Student must submit a complete application form in order to be considered for scholarship funding. Applications are due by July 15, prior to the school year for which scholarship funds are being requested. GBC will disburse scholarship funds after July 15, based upon the number of students that have applied on or before that date and the amount of funding available in the current church budget. Scholarship funds will be sent directly from GBC to each respective seminary. Applicants who have never received GBC scholarship funds will be given priority over applicants who have already received GBC scholarship funds. Previous recipients are still encouraged to apply for funding. Likewise, students are also allowed to apply even if the July 15 deadline has passed, as funding might still be available. GBC will not hold scholarship applications from year to year; therefore, a new application must be submitted even if applicant does not receive scholarship funds from the application process most current. Funding shall be directed toward seminaries that are members of the Southern Baptist Convention. Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary (MABTS) is also approved for funding. If student wishes to attend a non-SBC seminary, the program of study must fill International Mission Board requirements for the field of ministry the student wishes to pursue. All seminaries to which scholarship funds are sent must be theologically in accordance with the Constitution of Germantown Baptist Church. Student must submit mission statement/doctrinal statement of non-SBC seminaries (excluding MABTS) for consideration by the Germantown Baptist Missions Committee. If student ceases his or her seminary enrollment during the school year, he or she is responsible for repaying GBC the scholarship funding that was granted, or ensuring that the seminary returns the funding to GBC before the end of the semester. GBC is not responsible for transferring funds from one seminary to another. GBC maintains the right to reduce or remove scholarship funding if requirements cease to be met or if budget constraints dictate reduction or removal of funding. |
